This old-style variety theatre - it was Dublin's first music hall - retains its physical characteristics (many of them authentically worn) but has largely parted company with straight theatre. It's an occasional venue for well-known international stand-up comedians (Jimmy Carr made a recent stop here), but these days its cavernous auditorium usually reverberates with the sound of big-name rock and pop acts.
