Beer heaven - this old-fashioned pub offers local brews, obscure artisan cask ales from around the UK, and bottled beers from Germany and the Low Countries. You'll be able to watch the football on one of the screens.

It is true that the staff here can be surly, sometimes downright rude, but in general they are ok, not perhaps the friendliest but no-nonsense. They always have a great range of beers on at very reasonable prices and they keep the beer to a very high standard. The bar itself is a nice old place and the seating is decent and usually plentiful unless there's a game on. Good place for watching the footie as there's several screens so you can usually keep an aye on two or more games at the same time. The lighting is way too bright for my tastes. Clientele usually a decent crowd and very little if any trouble, generally good atmosphere. I enjoy drinking here, despite some drawbacks.

Have been going in this pub for a number of years when visiting Edinburgh
unfortunately as time has gone on we have found a member of the bar staff - we were told he was the landlord to be the most rude person we have met behind a bar
I would not recommend going to this pub to anyone visiting Edinburgh. All other staff were very helpfull

Went for a few drinks on a Monday evening. Served everyone in the group then as soon as we sat down the barman came over and said dogs weren't allowed on the premises (this included outside). Obviously this isn't anything to do with the licensing law and the barman wanted to have a wee power trip . Won't be going back!

One of the best selections of beers in Edinburgh and good location. Staff generally ok but we eventually stopped going due to the surliness of one barman (very large fellow, looks like he could handle anything, but a welcoming smile is not his strong point).
