One of the vicitims of the Old Town fire of 2002 was the Bridge Jazz Bar. Proprietor Bill Kyle asked local jazz stalwarts for their help backing a new venture to replace the much-loved old place; aficionados dug deep, and the Jazz Bar duly arrived on Chambers Street. There are three gigs a night (four on Saturdays) from local and visiting groups; late nights slide into a funkier club vibe. Oddly, the Jazz Bar doesn't play a part in the Edinburgh International Jazz & Blues Festival, which is missing a trick by not providing a focal point for night-owl players.

Its a dump and shouldn't be allowed in any Jazz festival. Much better venues, overated with poor staff and the manager is an idiot. Pity cause it used to be good but best place for it is underground now with the door closed.
