Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
McKean's Venetian reverie is a visual tone poem narrated by John Cale and shot on digital treated to look like scratched and blotched b/w nitrate film stock. Not that there's anything antique about the dizzying 3-D technology McKean uses to superimpose people and objects, hanging temporal sculptures so lovely you want to reach out and touch them. Recalling the meditative writings of the late WG Sebald, this reflection on time, place and memory may or may not add up to much more than arty esoterica, but the visual sophistication (with echoes of the Quay Brothers) makes it well worth a look.Author: TCh
