Enigma (1982)
Director: Jeannot Szwarc
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
In this disastrous mid-Atlantic spy thriller, Sheen plays an expatriate American who grew up behind the Iron Curtain and now makes propaganda broadcasts for Free World Radio in Paris. Learning that the KGB has a plan to assassinate five leading Soviet dissidents now living in Europe, the CIA recruit Sheen to obtain a crucial scrambling device fitted to a Communist word processor in East Berlin. Sheen changes his appearance almost as often as John Briley's script changes its mind (about every five minutes), and both of them are forever rushing down blind alleys in search of an excitement which continually eludes them.Author: NF
