Eve of Destruction (1991)
Director: Duncan Gibbins
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
In her American debut, Soutendijk plays Dr Eve Simmons, a beautiful research scientist who creates a cyborg in her own image. A military robot endowed with her body, brains and emotional hang-ups, it turns into a super-destructive, castrating, father-hating RoboSlut. Sadly, too little is made of the premise that Soutendijk's damaged doppelgänger is giving vent to her own repressed urges. Also, the bursts of explosive action are punctuated by turgid, talky scenes in which angry cop Hines harangues Soutendijk about the ethics of military science. In short, an attention-catching idea in search of a movie.Author: NF
