Director: Heiner Stadler
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
February 1995: Having witnessed the shooting of an Irish rebel by British soldiers in Belfast, German conflict-photographer Jan Loy (Knaup) ventures into a Somalia-like civil war constituted by warlords, journalists and UN troops. With his experience in Ireland still hanging over him - despite a press award for his shots of the incident, fellow reporter (Franke) blames him for the Irishman's death - Loy meets a local sniper and is struck by the similarities between their trades, furthering his doubts about the ethics of his profession. It could be promising, but, with director and co-writer Stadler's elliptical, disjointed style and low word count, the effect is ponderous and unrevealing.Author: NB
