Deathsport (1978)
Director: Henry Suso Nicholas Niciphor, Allan Arkush
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Mutant offspring of the Death Race 2000 line of cheapo sci-fi. The inhabitants of its post-holocaust society are familiar enough: cannibal freaks, sadist overlords of the fascist city-states, and the samurai-like 'Range Guides' gladiatorially pitched against the death-machines (dressed-up trail bikes). The plot, however, soon escalates into a frenzied biker chase pic, embracing both Kung-fu mysticism and the heavy pyrotechnics which push it to its most effective level. If it never quite rises to the kind of parable one half expects from the Corman factory, it's still OK. CPea.Author: CPea
