Decadence (1993)
Director: Steven Berkoff
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Berkoff is the sneering adulterer, Collins the snooty aristo - and the parallel characters, scuzzbag private dick and arriviste housewife. The fringe play (from which this is drawn) usually delivers a short, sharp shock, but here Berkoff's stagy direction dissipates most of the scathing wit and pleasing vulgarity. The film resembles a video shot from the front row of the audience. She romps on silk sheets; he writhes at the crack of a riding crop. Dreadful.Author: ACh
