Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

A French philologist and committed communist (Ponce) is internally exiled to the island of Formentera in the late '60s, just as the island is undergoing a scheme, headed by Señor Lloveras, for massive tourist development on the site of its old saltworks. This leisurely adaptation of the novel by Ferran Torrent builds a portrait of transition and personal and political intrigue through half a dozen characters whose passions and pasts collide in increasingly complex ways. A little too complicated, it is nevertheless ably directed and attractively acted.
