Dynasty (1977)
Director: Zhang Meijun
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A very average swordplay/martial arts movie, enlivened by proficient 3-D photography in the Polaroid process. The plot (vengeful young monk has seven days to kill wicked Imperial Court eunuch) is rehashed from a 1966 King Hu film called Dragon Gate Inn, and Pai Ying - one of the heroes in A Touch of Zen - reprises his role as the eunuch from that film. The rest is typical '70s kung-fu stunts. Reasonably engaging exposition, very flat climax, feeble gestures towards the Ming Dynasty historiography. Best 3-D effect: arrows fired directly into the audience.Author: TR
