Boomerang (1976)
Director: José Giovanni
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A good série noire novelist, Giovanni took less happily to film-making, and does little right with this melodrama-plus-message produced by Delon as a vehicle for Delon. The latter plays a prominent businessman attempting to save his son, who killed a cop while turned on at a wild party. But the truth of his own criminal past emerges, the son decides to emulate dad by busting out, and predictable complications bolster the argument against hysterical media campaigns demanding the death penalty. The general air of cliché is sealed by the inevitable final freeze-frame as Delon and son, trying to escape on foot across the border, make it and/or are nailed by a pursuing helicopter.Author: TM
