Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Black welfare comedy with a catch in its throat that has a beautiful mother of six trying to get her man as well as cope with domestic problems like a militant son and pregnant daughter. Meanwhile her man (a garbage collector) wins the kids over by preaching the virtues of savvy and education. Most of the humour is aware of the blacks' place at the bottom of the heap, and the stream of welfare gags occasionally hit home; but mostly the film is dogged by its middle-of-the road comedy format and its refusal to trade in anything but stereotypes.Author:
