When her single mum uproots her from NYC to the 'cultural wasteland' of New Jersey, melodramatic 17-year-old Lola declares her life has ended. How can she fulfil her thespian dreams, crushed by a drab new world of suburban malls and unadventurous clothing choices? Apart from the chance to play Liza in the school production of Pygmalion, the one twinkle on the snow cone of Lola's life is attending the after-show party for the farewell concert of her fave-ever rock group, Sidarthur, whose lyrics are 'like, the greatest since Shakespeare'. Lohan gives another satisfyingly real teen performance as vintage-thread-wearing Lola, leaving you in little doubt she'll eventually trounce the evil lip-glossed school richbitch (Megan Fox), who always takes the leads in drama class and whose daddy is Sidarthur's lawyer. From bouncy bubblegum credits to fairy tale ending, it's clear this candy comfort confection is for 12/14-year-old girls only - or those eternally charmed by the likes of Pretty in Pink.
