Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Despite its ambition and a Coen Brothers script credit, Raimi's second film was a disappointment after his astonishing debut The Evil Dead. Exterminators Crush and Coddish wipe out more than just bugs, but don't end up carrying the can, hence Vic Ajax is languishing on Death Row for a crime he didn't commit. There are some accomplished set pieces, but the film remains interesting, perhaps, mainly for the hindsight view it offers of the career trajectory - The Evil Dead, Crimewave, Darkman - that led to Raimi finally getting his hands a cartoon-inspired blockbuster in Spider-man.
