Ghost Story (1981)
Director: John Irvin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Disastrous distillation of Peter Straub's overrated but at least tolerably coherent novel. The action is now almost as arthritic as the performances of the quartet of golden oldies who sit around regaling each other with ghost stories while the demonic spirit of a girl they wronged in their youth rampages around wreaking vengeance. The horror, weakly and predictably managed by Irvin, is mainly confined to tiresomely repetitive shots of the rotting flesh that lurks beyond the demon's pretty face.Author: TM
