Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

The economics of prostitution out East haven't changed since Suzie Wong's day, and O'Rourke's documentary doesn't break new ground either, apart from his declaration of mea culpa. Aoi, from a village, becomes a bar girl to support her family. 'Good or bad, I don't think. I get money. OK'. Direct-to-camera interviews with Aoi and her mother are spuriously ennobled with opera, and there are plenty of shock cuts to the roaring life of the bar, bulging with lager louts demanding 'pussy shoot balloon'.
