Paris: XY (2000)
Director: Zeka Laplaine
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Max is a Congolese tailor with a business in Paris, a smart, white, middle-class wife and two kids, and a flirtatious way with the women he meets in bars. He's also a workaholic, and when he cancels a Christmas break with the family, his wife leaves with the children for her dad's. Thereafter, Max desperately tries to save his marriage. That's about it, plotwise, but writer/director Laplaine makes for an engaging protagonist, and he's surrounded himself with a decent cast. While some of the editing's a touch clumsy, there's an air of spontaneity about the b/w camerawork.Author: GA
