From Time Out Film Guide

Engaging documentary about an eccentric family (old man, two sons, two daughters) living wild in a tumbledown house in the Sussex woods and doing their own thing (mainly music and tinkering with steam engines and other ancient machinery). Their lifestyle, expounded in fascinatingly wayward conversation which is allowed to make its own pace, embodies a weird cautionary logic about the miracles of modern technocracy.

Posted on Oct 18 2008 23:09 I am a great fan of this film and this way of life. I Study Film in Farnham but am from Crawley in Sussex. I worked in the town and believe i had a couple of conversations with jim. I'm desperate to know if it was really him or not. i'd love to see what the land looks like now. seeing Horsham station at the end of the film always makes me emotional cause its a place ive got a lot of experiences at. Shirle Cowler could you possibly e-mail me some more about the family? are the sisters still about? Thanks, Greg

Posted on Aug 28 2008 23:40 I have a vhs copy of my Uncle Roland and his family. Watched it many times over the years. We use to visit the family now and again. My brother and I thought it was great as there was always something to do. Last time I saw Peter was at Tinkers Park Steam rally. A few later we met Jim at the same venue who told us Jim had passed away. Please contact me if you want more information on the family.
Ps I now live in France with my husband, but return to Sussex often as we have a small flat in Littlehampton

Not surprised you'd like a fresh copy. It really is one of a kind - once seen never forgotten.
