Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Calling the film Scarred rather than 'Teenage Hollywood Hookers' indicates some level of serious intent, though it prowls the same sort of sidewalk. Originally a UCLA film course project with AFI support, shot on 16mm apparently with available light, it's realistic about the relationships between hookers, pimps and customers. At the same time it's not above tapping into a vein of sentimentality when the script opts to rescue a couple of girls from The Life to give them a chance of a Better Life at the end. First time director Turko appears to have opted for her own Better Life - little has been heard of her subsequently.
