Sleepless (2000)
Director: Dario Argento
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A disappointing giallo shocker from Dario Argento. Two bravura sequences aside - one a snaking, knee-level pan through a theatre during a ballet performance - the film confirms that the Italian horror maestro's best work is way behind him. Retired cop Max von Sydow is drawn back into a murder mystery he investigated years before, when a killer with the same MO surfaces. The key lies in a children's nursery rhyme, but the convoluted plot is ludicrous and the supporting performances wildly erratic. Despite faint echoes of Deep Red and Opera, this is silly, soporific stuff.Author: NF
