The Smallest Show on Earth (1957)
Director: Basil Dearden
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A delightfully eccentric comedy, with Travers and McKenna inheriting a fleapit cinema called The Bijou, and fighting a takeover by the owners of The Grand, which 'conveniently' burns down. An Ealing-style allegory of English resolve, scripted by William Rose and John Eldridge, it's memorable chiefly for Sellers' drunken old projectionist, clinging to his machines whenever a train goes by, and Rutherford's belligerent cashier.Author: ATu
