Once upon a time in Hollywood a young actress, with the help of her friend Clint Eastwood and his Malpaso company, made a modern fairytale about a little boy who looked like a rat. Locke plays the good ol' country girl who rescues the bewhiskered rubbish-tip recluse to transform him into a star. Unfortunately, however, Locke's 'very black, funny and sad comedy' is neither funny nor sad, and the only thing black about it is its stereotypical depiction of Blacks as conmen and Uncle Toms. Give it a miss.
