Tombstone (1993)
Director: George P Cosmatos
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The old story of how Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday took on the Clanton mob and brought law and order to the town of Tombstone. This version fields an impressive supporting cast (in addition to the above, Michael Rooker, Stephen Lang, Charlton Heston, Harry Carey Jr, Billy Zane and Jason Priestley), a screenplay by Kevin Jarre which is at least on speaking terms with history, and decidedly no-frills direction by George (Rambo) Cosmatos. Kilmer makes a surprisingly effective and effete Holliday, but Russell lacks the stature for Earp - Sam Elliott as his older brother Virgil suggests a better movie. There's a misguided romantic subplot and the ending rather sprawls, but mostly this is rootin', tootin' entertainment with lots of authentic facial hair.Author: TCh

- Posted on Jan 26 2011 15:33 A great cast and a great western. It might not be on par with some of the classic Clint Eastwood movies - but it has a good story and good action. Everyone gives props to Kilmer in this film. While his rendition of Doc Holliday is brilliant, Michael Biehn (as Johnny Ringo) should also be given credit for his performance as one of the film's chief antagonists.
