Mikey, the tot with the Bruce Willis voice-over, is about to acquire a sister (thoughts by Roseanne Barr). 'Don't you just hate it when you get your head caught in your placenta?' muses the yet-to-be-born sprog. That's about as good as the gags get in this uninspired sequel to 1989's blockbuster. The story picks up with accountant Mollie (Alley) and cabbie James (Travolta) semi-settled in domestic bliss. But after the birth of their daughter, problems start to escalate: will James ever realise his dream to become an airline pilot and thus earn a decent salary? Will Mikey make it through toilet training? And when will Mollie stop giving money to her no-good, gun-crazy brother (Koteas)? This is formulaic stuff as the once-happy couple bicker incessantly, with a fire and rainstorm thrown in to lend a sense of danger when complacency threatens to become overwhelming. Crucially, this forgettable sequel lacks its predecessor's lively pace and comic tension.
