This is a first rate fictionalised story of the last year or so of Patrice Lumumba, the first post-colonial prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It may assume a little prior knowledge of Central/West African political affairs, but it makes its point about his abandonment and lonely sacrifice clear enough. At its core is an extremely dignified performance by Eriq Ebouaney as the beer salesman turned leader of his people.
