The Unsaid (2001)
Director: Tom McLoughlin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Something of a vanity project for its star, who also exec produced, Garcia plays Dr Michael Hunter, a psychiatrist so obsessed with his career that he fails to notice the family tragedy hatching in his midst. We're barely 10 minutes into this psychological thriller when his son commits suicide. Some months later, the shrink takes on a new patient, a delinquent adolescent who just happens to be the spitting image of his dead child. Director McLoughlin (Friday the 13th Part VI) is uncertain whether he's making a teen movie, an exploitation pic or a family drama. In the original story, the son actually possessed the body of the other child, but Garcia reportedly insisted on straining all the supernatural elements from the plot. What's left is a plodding, self-righteous drama about redemption and family values.Author: GM
