Upstairs and Downstairs (1959)
Director: Ralph Thomas
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Oh, the problems of nice upper-class couples in British comedies of the '50s. Newly-weds Craig and Heywood simply can't find the right domestic and they've got to do lots of entertaining for her wealthy father's business clients. After trying and failing with the likes of Claudia Cardinale (her first English-speaking role) and Joan Hickson, they hit pay-dirt with Sid James. Very genteel. Began life as a novel by Ronald Scott Thorne.Author: TJ
