Kyun! Ho Gaya Na (2004)
Director: Samir Karnik
Movie review
From Time Out London
Arjun (Oberoi) realises he loves Diya (Rai) and must declare his love as she is about to marry Ishaan (Shetty). Is he too late? First time writer-director Karnik blends a Shakespearean twist with shades of a comic Mozart opera into the standard ‘screen love that will not be denied’ formula. With the exception of the irrelevant, self-indulgent Bachchan sub-plot, there is much to enjoy in this romantic comedy, especially real life lovers Oberoi and Rai who bring a certain camp charm to the breezy proceedings. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s songs (frustratingly not subtitled) hit the spot especially the tuneful 'Aao Naa' track which makes the Scottish Highlands come alive with the sound of Bollywood.Author: AS
