School for Seduction (2004)
Director: Sue Heel
Movie review
From Time Out London
Kelly Brook scrapes through in her first starring role, although playing a mysterious, beautiful woman of few words doesn’t seem too much of a stretch. When her character, Italian Sophia, starts a ‘School for Seduction’ in Newcastle, her tutoring changes the lives of her students. The group of shop girls and downtrodden executives is inspired to stand up to their men, but it’s mostly done with a heavy hand. And while characters like Emily Woof’s hesitantly ambitious single mother ring true, this film suffers from an acute lack of direction. Fatally, the revelatory finale revolves around the least developed character, Sophia. Perhaps writer-director Heel could use some schooling of her own.Author: AS
