The glamorous life of a hot-headed ad agency director takes a disastrous turn in this dark melodrama. Shot in crisp colours with contemporary French cinema in mind, director Cagan Irmak's first feature film does little beyond look expensive. Having directed one of Turkey's most popular TV dramas, ‘Asmali Konak’, Irmak does not make the transition to cinema well. ‘Everything About Mustafa’ has too much shouting, drooling, and slow-motion to make it appeal beyond hardcore followers of his TV series. It also manages to answer the question of why Irmak was not the director of the enormously successful final episode of said series, released in cinemas as a feature film.
