God Tussi Great Ho (2008)
Director: Rumi Jaffery
Movie review
From Time Out London
Is nothing sacred for Bollywood? This blatant copy of ‘Bruce Almighty’ meets ‘Ugly Betty’ sees Salman Khan trying desperately to ape Jim Carrey. Khan is a failing TV anchor who rants against God (Bachchan) for being such a ham actor. Naturally, the divine one gives him magical powers for ten days which enables him to mend bridges with his anorexic girlfriend (Chopra), his angry dad (Kher), destroy his rival and get his plain-Jane sister married. First-time director Jaffery is more intent on dressing Bachchan and Khan in white and pink suits and frilly flowery polka dot shirts than in establishing a logical narrative. The result is a contrived, muddled masala movie meant only for die-hard fans of these two dummies.Author: Anil Sinanan
