Alvin And The Chipmunks 2 : The Squeakquel (2009)
Director: Betty Thomas
Movie review
From Time Out London
Given that Alvin and chums originally started out in 1958 as a trio of high-pitched recording artists, it’s only right that this live-action ‘squeakquel’ should begin with the furry little CG blighters wooing a concert crowd with a raucous Kinks cover. Unfortunately, it’s the film’s only highlight – if the sight of three annoying furballs murdering ‘You Really Got Me’ can be considered a highlight.I’d like to think the filmmakers had a lengthy deliberation about a storyline, but I suspect they simply caught an episode of ‘The X Factor’ and the recently released ‘Bandslam’ and thought a premise involving a self-centred Alvin, a rival group of female chipmunks (The Chipettes) and a college talent contest would prove a mighty good wheeze. And, indeed, that might have been the case had the story any semblance of… a story. Instead, what we’re offered is a succession of lifeless scenes punctuated by pratfalls that only a handful of kids in the audience found funny. Next.

The three teen singing chipmunks end up in the house and care of Dave's nephew, Toby. Toby is not the best at babysitting, but the chipmunks wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for Alvin going mad and causing Dave’s injury. The boys’ singing life gets put aside when they end up at school.
The boys are asked to compete in battle of the bands against a couple of bands, but much to their surprise they meet the ‘Chippettes’, who turn out to be an amazing girl version of the chipmunks. The manager of the Chippettes turns out to be the previous (and evil) manager the chipmunks had.
The film is definatly a good one, but I would not reccommend it to anyone over the age of 10. Some people were walking out the cinema after only 1 hour. - Report as inappropriate

- Posted on Jul 15 2011 14:56 I really liked Simon. I'd like to know where he got his glasses from. I have feelings for Simon. I would like him to be my friend. I like the way he nibbles at hazelnuts. I wonder if he would let me share his nuts?

Oh babybee, dees is the best film I have ever seen - and I've seen a lot of really good ones, including Addams Family Values. I laughed so much that out of my nose came chicken, fish and philadelphia cream cheese came.
