Killer Joe (2011)

Director: William Friedkin

Average user rating
No reviews

Synopsis

He’s no stranger to controversy, but ‘Killer Joe’ proves that, even at the age of 77, William Friedkin can still put a few backs up. The director of ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘The French Connection’ reteams with playwright Tracy Letts, who also scripted his 2006 film ‘Bug’, for the twisted tale of a sleazy white trash Texas family who get more than they bargained for when they hire a hitman (Matthew McConaughey) to bump off their matriarch and collect the insurance. With a solid cast also featuring Emile Hirsch, Gina Gershon, Thomas Haden Church and Juno Temple and a truly vicious performance from McConaughey, ‘Killer Joe’ received generally favourable reviews on last year’s festivals circuit.
