Synopsis

This documentary aims to shed new light on the life and work of Harry Belafonte, best known as a singer and songwriter but perhaps less so as a civil rights campaigner and activist for social justice. 'Sing Your Song' is told from the perspective of Belafonte himself and charts his life, from his birth in New York and his childhood in Jamaica to his return to Harlem as a teen, when he discovered his talent for performing, and his career as an artist ever since. At the core of the film are Belafonte's own memories of being at the heart of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The film has already had a healthy life on the festival circuit, having screened at the likes of Sundance, SXSW, Berlin and Tribeca.
