A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011)
Director: Todd Graff
Movie review
From Time Out London
It takes a lot for a mainstream comedy to get an ‘18’ rating these days, but getting a three-year-old nutted on cocaine seems to have done the trick. The first ‘Harold & Kumar’ film was a sweet, low-key stoner comedy, the second a crass slapstick romp and this third instalment falls somewhere between the two. Like the first movie, it’s firstly a well observed tale of friendship, as our estranged heroes (John Cho and Kal Penn) bond over bongs and blunts while searching for the perfect Christmas tree to appease Harold’s Latino gangster father-in-law (Danny Trejo – who else?). As before, the film’s strengths are two likeable leads, a self-mocking cameo from Neil Patrick Harris and some witty observations on race in America, bolstered here by a surprisingly inventive use of 3D. It’s not quite smart or funny enough – and some of the gross-out gags cross the line – but for all its pretensions to bad taste, this is surprisingly heartwarming festive fare.Author: Tom Huddleston

Hugely enjoyable totally offensive movie (if you are that way inclined). The £D effects work well in this compared to some others (though I feel the fad is on overkill now).
The story is basic enough but the gags are real fun and offend just about everyone. But who cares - its only a film. - Report as inappropriate

- Posted on Dec 13 2011 10:33 Worth a visit on a cold blustery evening if you've been locked out of your house. I laughed 8 times and chuckled 13 times. The 3D in this film was cheerful and aptly demonstrated what a flying egg looks like when shot with an expensive camera. Trejo as the hard father in law fails to be menacing enough. However, Harold's wife is well fit. 7/10

- Posted on Dec 12 2011 09:51 Watched this last night and was not as impressed as I thought I'd be. After a good 2nd film, I was really expecting to laugh a lot more than I did. The 3D thing was completely pointless (as usual). The NPH cameo was a highlight as was the 'stuck to a pole' bit (you'll undertstand that part if you've seen it). Other than this, it was pretty forgettable.
