From Time Out London

This Bollywood biopic is obviously inspired by the life of an American rock legend. Janardan, (Ranbir Kapoor), a middle-class Delhi lad, dreams of becoming Jordan, India’s answer to Jim Morrison. Told in flashback, we follow his painful path from heartbreak with a college hottie, Heer (Nargis Fakhir), to global fame. Given that the Hindi soundtrack is by double-Oscar winner AR Rahman (‘Slumdog Millionaire’), there is no doubt that our moody hero will make it big. A worthy attempt to explore artistic angst is marred by a meandering screenplay which almost derails this ‘nobody to somebody’ journey. It is redeemed by an accomplished performance from the talented handsome male-lead and by songs which rock.
