The festive season is well and truly upon us, and amidst the Christmas nights out and long-awaited catch ups with friends and family, there are some serious cocktails to be devoured. But we’re not just talking about your typical run-of-the-mill Martinis and oh-so-obvious Cosmos. While standard cocktail fare is delish, save it for the other 11 months of the year. The festive season demands some festive spirits to match, so here are four of Glasgow’s best not-so-ordinary cocktails to bring a little Christmas cheer into your life. The Pear, Ginger and Raspberry Mule at SoHo  SoHo, Miller Street Not only is SoHo one of Glasgow’s unsung heroes in terms of food but their lovely Pear, Ginger and Raspberry Mule shows they also know how to make a damn fine cocktail. Made with Absolut Pears Vodka, Chambord Raspberry liqueur, ginger beer, fresh lime and a dash of Angostura bitters, this nimble little drink is a great accompaniment to SoHo’s fantastic Italian cuisine. Served in a cute little jar, it’s a cocktail you'll want to sample repeatedly.SoHo, 84 Miller Street The Coconut and Chilli Daiquiri at Bar Soba Bar Soba, Merchant City Think it sounds like a weird combination? Well we did too until we had a glass or two and felt our taste buds exploding. The finest ingredients, such as Koko Kanu coconut rum, fresh lime and homemade lychee syrup, are the foundation for this yummy cocktail. Let's just start with the obvious - here at Time Out, we reckon Glasgow's pretty damn brilliant. One of our main missions is to re-examine the city constantly to pinpoint exactly what's so great about it, which means we're fully on board with any project offering different perspectives on the dear green place. The Settled In Glasgow Oral History Archive (SIGOHA), created and run by Time Out Glasgow contributor (and relative Glasgow newcomer) Jessie Lawson, is one such project. We have some new participants!! Hear @VassoGe and @kariebookish 's stories at https://t.co/lIUJR8mU4Y! pic.twitter.com/BKEE0ex7KH — SIGOHA (@TalesofGlasgow) December 8, 2015 SIGOHA is an online collection of conversations with people who live in Glasgow and were born outside of the UK, aiming to create an alternative social history of Glasgow through the tales of people who have settled here. The project is built around the belief that the most valuable stories are those told by everyday, normal people, as the daily experiences that may seem ordinary to one person can be completely bizarre to another when taken out of context. In this way, SIGOHA hopes to share parts of Glasgow’s history that we don't normally hear, through the perspectives of those who have settled here after starting life in very different contexts. What's more, through participants’ stories of their lives before moving to Glasgow, SIGOHA also documents the histories of many cities and countries around the world.  This is Thomas.

The world premiere of a resurrected film originally from the 1950s telling the story of the Scottish Highlands will open next year’s Glasgow Short Film Festival. Socialist filmmaking collective Dawn Cine Group started work on ‘Lost Treasure’ in 1956 but, although they shot 40 minutes of footage, the film was never finished and put into storage. Now Glasgow Short Film Festival has commissioned musicians Drew Wright (Wounded Knee) and Hamish Brown (Swimmer One) to work with filmmaker Minttu Mäntynen to rescurrect the film and it will be screened in public for the first time ever on Wednesday March 16 before touring to other venues in Scotland. The musicians will perform a live audio-visual performance responding to the unfinished film and attempt to complete its story, which focuses on the issues causes in the Highlands by absentee landlords. Glasgow Short Film Festival director Matt Lloyd says the Dawn Cine Group were ahead of their time and ‘Lost Treasure’ was to be their biggest project. ‘In revisiting it on the 60th anniversary of its shoot, we’re paying tribute to some of Scotland’s unsung heroes of film in a unique way,’ he adds. Glasgow Short Film Festival, March 16-20 2016. Tickets for ‘Lost Treasure’ on sale from noon December 2. Full line-up to be announced in February. See more film in Glasgow from Time Out.

Prince has postponed all of his upcoming European tour, including the two dates in Glasgow, following the attacks in Paris on Friday night. Last week the singer confirmed a stripped-back 16-date tour for November and December, with two shows at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on November 27. Tickets had been due to be released on Friday morning but just before were meant to go on sale, concert promoters said the sale had been pushed back with no further information provided. Prince then took to his official Twitter account to hit back at 'vultures' and reselling sites owned by the promoters. But now the tragic incidents in Paris over the weekend have led to the promoters announcing the postponement of the entire tour. He had been due to play two shows in the French capital on December 11. In a statement on the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall website, the venue said: 'Due to the tragic events in Paris, ICO has decided to postpone the upcoming European tour until further notice.' Prince also tweeted a link to a similar notice from Vienna's Konzerthaus, which was due to be the first stop of the tour. See more music on Time Out Glasgow.

The announcement earlier this week of intimate shows from Prince led to much excitement among fans with many excitedly awaiting the chance to buy tickets today to see The Purple One playing a stripped down set with just his piano. However, just before tickets were meant to go on sale at 10am this morning, the sale of tickets was postponed with no further information on why or when they'd be available. Now, a series of tweets from Prince's official Twitter account suggest the singer has decided to stop the sale as part of his campaign to avoid touts and fees - and in particular the ticket reselling sites owned by concert promoters, such as Ticketmaster's GetMeIn.   MULTIPLE CHOICE: A.
