If you're looking for a sign that the festive season nearly upon us, you won't find one clearer than the annual Leeds lights switch on at Victoria Gardens on November 12.

This year Dixie and Emma from Heart Breakfast will host the free show, and they'll be introducing a host of special guests throughout the evening.

One such highlight includes a festive sing-along led by CBeebies presenters Alex Winters and Cat Sandion. They'll be joined by Lee Brennan, the star of this year's production of Aladdin at the Carriageworks Theatre, better known as the lead vocalist for boyband 911.

There'll also be an opportunity to hear the 40-strong Leeds Rock Choir, who'll be singing a selection of hit songs and Christmas tunes that demonstrate their unique vocal arrangements, as well as a live performance from the cast of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', ahead of their show at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Fans of local, upcoming musicians will also be pleased to hear that The Richards – winners of this year's Breeze Has Talent show – will be singing and rapping for the crowds, too.

More guests are still to be announced, including the headline star who'll be flipping the switch. At this stage, it looks like Gary Barlow is a popular choice, with Keith Lemon being a favourite for others.

Other attractions on the night include funfair rides along Cookridge Street, with a firework spectacular to mark the turning on of one of the UK's largest festive city centre illuminations.

Leeds Lights Switch On. November 12, 6.45pm. Victoria Gardens, off the Headrow, LS1 3AA. Free event. More information here.
