The count down to a month long celebration of delicious things to eat and drink in Leeds is hotting up with the launch coming this Friday.

Whilst the festival itself will be celebrating being ten years old, it's the first time that there will be a month-long celebration across the city. With hundreds of events and opportunities to fill your face, here are ten of the very best events to get your mouth watering...

1. World Feast
A tasty event inspired by street food from around the world. So whether you fancy fish and chips, jerk chicken or spit roast lamb, come on down and savour these world delights.
Briggate – May 24.

2. The Leodensian Burger
To honour Leeds Food and Drink Festival’s tenth anniversary, Almost Famous has created a commemorative burger, The Leodensian. It’s a double cheeseburger with a huge list of extra ingredients including bacon, Yorkshire crisps, shoestring onions, Yorkshire relish, blue cheese dressing and topped with a Wensleydale cheese ball. Hope you’re feeling hungry!

3. Grapeful
Leeds’ first ever ‘pop up’ wine festival is offering access to unlimited tasting of over 100 wines from 12 different countries around the world.

4. MEAT Leeds at MEATliquor
A special Leeds inspired food and drink combo featuring ‘gravy fries’ and unique cocktails for £6.
MEATliquor, May 22 – June 7.

5. Leeds Loves Cocktails
38 cocktail bars in the city are collaborating to promote the best mixed drinks over a week of events, tastings and special sessions.
Various, June 1 – 7.

6. Thai Cooking School
Discover the art of Thai cooking and culture, then use your new found knowledge to prepare unique dishes before sitting down to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Chaophraya, May 30.

7. Handmade Yorkshire
Some of the finest chefs from around the region will be hosting exciting cookery demonstrations alongside mark stalls and live entertainment.
Victoria Gardens, June 5 – 7.

8. La Festa Del Pescatore
Get ready to be whisked away to the Mediterranean with Salvo’s ‘Feast of the Ocean’, with a special menu for seafood lovers featuring fresh fish, lobster, oysters, scallops, shellfish and more.

9. Leeds Feast
The Grand Finale of Leeds Indie Food Festival, held in partnership with the team at Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds Feast is a weekend celebrating the city’s stellar food and drink scene in the historic surroundings of Tetley Brewery’s original headquarters.
The Tetley, May 23 – 24.

10. Yorkshire Post Food and Drink Show 
To finish festival with a bang, this show promises to be a weekend of food focused fun, featuring some of the city’s best chefs in the live demo kitchen.
