A Most Wanted Man
John Le Carré was overlooked by film producers for far too long: while his books conquered British TV, big-screen adaptations were few and far between. But then 2005’s ‘The Constant Gardener’ became a word-of-mouth smash, the remake of ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ gathered the greatest ensemble cast in living memory, and since then Le Carre’s books have been flying off the shelves and into the hands of Hollywood bigwigs. ‘A Most Wanted Man’ has a solid pedigree: ‘Control’ director (and world-renowned photographer) Anton Corbijn takes the big chair, overseeing a cast that includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Willem Dafoe and Rachel McAdams. We’re not completely sold – Corbijn’s directorial efforts have left us a little cold thus far – but just as Le Carré’s books are always worth a read, so their big-screen adaptations always warrant our interest.
