Amy Foster

Time Out says

Amy (Weisz) is a Cornish servant girl, shunned by her parents, and animated only by the sight of the sea and the treasures it sweeps into her arms. A Ukrainian ship is wrecked and Amy assumes possession of Yanko (Perez), the sole survivor. He's happy with the arrangement, but Amy's community is against the match. She is a woman both behind the times and ahead of them: an unwitting revolutionary who manages to undo the punitive logic of 'civilised' society. Kidron's direction is alternately flat and glossily overwrought; the sets jar; and Tim Willocks' screenplay has drained Joseph Conrad's story of its tortuous peculiarity. This could be any TV friendly costume drama, complete with hair-centric stars and dodgy accents.
