Easy Rider

'Some day I'd like to see some of this country we're travelling through' says one of the fugitive couple in They Live By Night. Two decades later, their spiritual children had gone 'underground', discovered dope, rock and road... and a preference for male friendships. In this simplistic amalgam of travelogue and the zoom lens, a beatific Fonda and his mumbling St John go looking for America, financed courtesy of a coke deal with Phil Spector. The film was right about one thing at least: the advent of cocaine as the drug.

Keith, I think Uhlich the inside of mens assholes too much. Get a life and respect the film, not the person making it. You're just a critic blogging anyways. No one reads your shit, because you are writing reviews of movies 40 years old. Seems like Mr. Hopper did work a lot better than you. You are a fag. Nothing else to it.

A classic - esp for Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson - can't wait to watch it again (& again)

Unique movie. Way hip and in tune with the times. Experimental and daring, and they carried it off. Made on a shoestring, it was a critical and commercial success, launched one of the biggest movie careers {Nicholson was in some real B graders before this} and I believe the soundtrack was a hit also. No small achievement, for any movie! I think it was Fonda said; "I'm gonna make the best motorcycle movie ever." and I think he succeded.
