Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

Sandrine Kiberlain shines in this pacy, Paris-set and just-silly-enough thriller. She is Muriel, a middle-aged pop fan and single mother drawn into a potential murder case by slick celebrity singer Vincent Lacroix (Laurent Lafitte), who she’s been following at a distance for years. When Vincent’s girlfriend dies accidentally in his home during a late-night row, it’s Muriel he calls, looking to prey on her loyalty and anonymity and asking her to dispose of the body. But what could possibly go wrong?

‘Elle L’Adore’ is not entirely satisfying, but there’s a pleasing wince factor here, alongside good, if half-formed, ideas about power shifts in relationships and finally getting the excitement and intimacy you crave from an icon. Mostly, though, it’s involving as a detective yarn – and one where we know much more than the cops. Fans of the French police series ‘Spiral’ should enjoy.
