Anna Faris capitalises on her vacant-blonde routine in this sunny, silly comedy. She’s Shelley, a dim-witted, relentlessly cheerful Playboy Bunny who’s been kicked out of the mansion and on to the streets. Implausibility reigns supreme as she’s hired as a house mother for an ailing college sorority group full of misfits begging for makeovers. But it’s hard not to be won over by the script’s cheery humour that affectionately mocks Shelley while rooting for her all the way. ‘You’re so vapid,’ someone sneers at her. ‘Thanks very much!’ Shelley coos in genuine delight.

Faris nails moments like this with charm, creating catchphrases out of lines a lesser actress might toss away. It’s a shame the supports aren’t stronger – not to mention the half-hearted message that tries to meet brainboxes and bimbos somewhere in the middle. This aims for ‘Legally Blonde’/‘Mean Girls’ status, but ends up being a throwaway, if entertaining, plea for casting directors to start taking Faris more seriously.

no offence but the review on this film is sill 1.) who uses the the word nincompoop after they are 6 years old. the descriptin gives no insight into the film at all it is a long winded approach to saying the film is about a 27 year old playboy bunny who gets told she is too old to be one. and so decides to go to collage and changes a load of geeks into playboy bunny rabbits and they all become popular and she learns some lessons and morals along the way.

I agree wif tilda as I have said before it is just a bloody film!!! It dosen't encourage teenage girls 2 become porn stars I am ateenage girls and I wasn't influenced!! All u people who are complaining about it would have known wot it was going 2 be about before they saw it and if you knew wot it it was about and know u are complaining well that is reely your own fault 4 going to watch it in the first place

I went to see this film on Saturday and i really enjoyed it. I don't know why people r saying that it is unsuitable and encourages porn and playboy as it is just an enjoyable film with a good message and there is nothing wrong with that. And in the end she is a good person anyway and not an image of porn. I almost got put of going to see this movie after reading some of these comments but I am glad I didn't listen to them as i thought it was really good and would even go and see it again. My dad was even with me at the time and he never complained or said it was unsuitable - he actually really enjoyed it. Half u people don't know what they r talking about

We were in 2 minds which film to watch at the cinema today. House Bunny was more like something our young daughters would watch. Anyway we thought it was BRILLIANT. A real laugh out load fun film with lots of subliminal plots of lifes negatives but with positive solutions and work arounds so that all the good people get the good things and the baddies get theirs. We made the right choice today and would recommend this movie to any grown ups - like us - as well as the young ones.

toola

It is very funy but uses girls as sex object. Ridicululos, barbarus, absolutely hiddeous, extremely cluel vicious and frightening with barbaracknes

i walked in on this film when i went to see jeepers creapers 3, it was very random and disturbing....the exorcist meets the strangers, i am now deprived and wonder when i will recover, i should of watched the showing of emmerdale the movie...

i am with buzzy and intelligent girl on this issue - i will not want my 8 year old daughter to ever lay eyes on this boring rubbish unless she wants to when she can make her own choices

lozzi

i thought this film was brilliant... it made me laugh and it just shows girls as having fun... i dont see what the big problem with playboy i like it and nowadays its not a symbol of sex as it used to be to younger girls its just a bunny which to them means they are becoming woman and want to act it... i think this is a really fun film and throughly enjoyed it =]

Been to see this film today! Its amazing! All the people who say its an insult or anything are daft. Its only a film for crying out loud! For entertainment! If youve got nothing good to say about it sont say anything! Anyone agree?

buzzy

It shouldn't be highlighting 'how stupid some girls are', it should be highlighting how stupid and sexist the Playboy world is.

moi

This film is a scary reflection of the way things are going at the moment, with young girls being encouraged to aspire to be porn stars. This film is not just a bit of fun, it has serious consequences for girls' psyches and for society as a whole. Whatever happened to aspiring to being intelligent and informed and sefl-fulfilled? Today's girls are brought up to think that their sexuality is all they have to offer. Mark Kemode did a very good review of it on Radio 5 recently, which can be heard on the bbc website. He completely slated it.

buzzy

so what are you doing tinhead?! my review: this film is awful rubbish encouraging girls to see themselves as sex objects, and making light of the multi billion pound porn industry which is based on abuse of women. anna faris is an excellent actress and should be given better roles than this!

Intelligent Girl

This film makes me puke. It's boring and sleazy and insulting to teenage girls everywhere. My message to my fellow girls is DON'T SEE THIS FILM - unless you aspire to be another young woman being exploited for money by the sex industry, the world's third richest industry. It's just another example of Playboy using its fluffy pink image to appeal to teenage girls and getting them to spend their pocket-money on its tawdry merchandise, and now this film. Playboy is not cute - it's a serious and dangerous dealer in hard porn and all the exploitation and abuse of women and children that goes with the porn industry. Shame on Hollywood for this blatant product placement film, made in cooperation with Hugh Hefner, head of Playboy Enterprises, makers of a vast range of hard porn. Girls, don't be fooled into giving your money to this sleazy old man! Any smart teenage girl will boycott this film - wise up and get yourself some real girl power!

Shelley's college sorority house is just like her former home, the Playboy Mansion. Indeed, Hugh Hefner ("Hef") seems just like a house mother to all the girls who live with him. When Shelley leaves, he pines for days alone in his bedroom and almost had me in tears. Playboy Enterprises (who run 6 porn channels in the UK alone, each one showing over 50 films (eg "Fresh and Juicy Lolitas")) may deny that their Playboy pencil case (de rigeur for 10-year-olds nowadays) and Playboy single-size bed linen are designed to groom girls for a future in the porn industry but, with a mainstream film showing in London's West End rated 12A, which begins and ends with pages turning on a fairy tale, in which Shelley's student housemates contrast unfavourably next to her (their fellow students break in and paint "LOSERS" on the livingroom wall, whereas she is an uninhibited, popular, attractive, Playboy bunny whose preferred home is the Playboy Mansion and whose proudest moment is being chosen by Hef for the Miss November centrefold in Playboy magazine) says otherwise. Come off it, Playboy! Who are you trying to kid?
