Time Out says
A poignant little tragi-comedy, scripted by Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin, about a lower middle-class couple (Holliday and Ray) whose marriage cannot withstand the pressures against them. The divorce court listens first to the husband's story, then to the wife's, and then the judge arrives at some notion of 'the truth'. It's contrived, but the film's critique of traditional gender roles within marriage is still sharp, and Judy Holliday shows an unexpected depth.Author: TCh
