Time Out says

Quite frankly, it's hard to fathom why exactly anyone would have wanted to make this slick, glossy, but utterly redundant werewolf movie. Okay, maybe Nicholson sympathised with his Will Randall, a middle-aged New York book editor anxious about his job and his marriage, who finds his powers and senses not only restored but greatly sharpened when he's bitten by a wolf he ran into with his car. And maybe Spader, as Randall's smarmy, back-stabbing colleague Swinton, reckoned here was a juicy, villainous part to sink his teeth into. But for Pfeiffer - as Randall's love interest Laura - there's little of substance, while Nichols makes it clear that directing a horror movie was the last thing on his mind. Even make-up wiz Rick Baker is stymied by the air of restraint. Overall, this is needlessly polished nonsense: not awful; just toothless, gutless and bloodless.

  • The most brilliant and exquisite love story that we have viewed on screen and/or read. The Strick/Nichols writing team are brilliant. The films first word...SH-T and we are hooked. The scenes flow into each other with precision and are consistent throughout the production. This love story gives one a rush. Of course Will has absent mindedly neglected his wife and she satisfies her needs with Will's fellow worker. Not good. But this is a story, it is about using ones imagination and working with the movie, which for us was quite wonderful and easy to do. Yes! Will should have some how manage to bite the old man, and we do wonder just what happened to the black kid who was bitten and lost a few fingers? Another wolf for sure. Many did not realized that semen is considered to be blood and so Laura once having slept with Will was destine to become wolf. We love this love story. the cinematography is thrilling. The music just as haunting and thrilling. It's only flaw? That the Strick/Nichols team did not write a sequel! Boo Hoo!!!
