Manchester Cathedral review Rate it

A church building of some description has existed on this site since the first millennium, and the present cathedral has adapted to damage inflicted variously during the Civil War, from a direct hit from German bombers in 1941 and by the IRA bomb of 1996.

Of particular note is the beautiful wooden roof, the Anglo-Saxon Angel Stone (possibly a survival from an earlier church on the site) and the stained-glass Fire Window, which evocatively bleeds flame-coloured light into the Regimental Chapel.
