Victoria Station

Signs of its former splendour remain - the lovely tiled map of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway on the entrance walls, the wood-panelled ticket offices - but lately Victoria Station has felt distinctly shabby, its roof perpetually cupped by a safety net to catch any collapses.

Thankfully, a £25 million restoration scheme, including new roof and refurb of the original façade and station mosaics, is to be carried out over the next few years. Regional rail services and the Metrolink run from here, and the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena is accessed from the main plaza.
