The ongoing success of CityCo's lovely Dig the City festival, which brings urban gardens to our streets each summer, highlights the need to get more green space amongst the concrete and glass of Manchester city centre. For a major city, if there's one thing we lack, it's just that. Actually, there's also the fact that we don't really make the most out of our river but that's a different story...

Now, setting aside age-old rivalries, Manchester and Liverpool have joined forces and have become finalists in a bid to get funds from Grow Wild, a project designed to do just such a thing, creating wild flower havens across both cities.

Team Manchester and Liverpool are in competition with Plymouth, London, Bristol and Sheffield, all of whom make up the final shortlist. But you can help sway the vote and get the £120,000 on offer to land our way.

So if you want to see more greenery around, get voting at Grow Wild and let's get some flower power back to the streets!
